Boca Raton has a rich history that began with the arrival of Henry Flagler’s railroad in 1895. In 1925, Boca was incorporated and during that year, Addison Mizner came from Palm Beach to develop the community. His initial project did not succeed but the Cloister Inn sparked some initiatives of what one might call “marketing” which put the city on the map as a viable resort community.
Education has played an important role in of Boca’s history. From 1908 when the first one-room school house was built, to the 1960 founding of Florida Atlantic University, and today’s continued development of life-enriching educational institutions.
